Daily Shopping
In the major tourist areas in Turkey , you can find commercial centres with big department stores offering all manner of goods to do your daily shopping. while you are in holiday in your rental house or in your second home in Turkey. Beyond the numerous supermarkets in Turkey you can find Turkish stores like Migros, Tansas, but there are also a lot of international chains like Carrefour. All over Turkey you can find international operating discount stores such as BIM, SOK, where you can buy groceries of high quality to lower prices and every week they offer different non-food articles to special prices.
But the smaller the town the smaller are the shops you can find.. If you come to rural areas, the majority of the Turkish stores will be small family run shops called "bakkal" Almost on every corner there are the local bakkals which usually sell items such as milk products, bread, drinks, canned foods andso on. These "bakkals" are often open the whole night through, in Turkey you will have no problem with finding anything to eat or drink when necessary.
Turkey has its own fresh products that are sold on the bazaar (pazar) every week in almost every neighbourhood. In these bazaars you can find there a variety of products like fresh food such as fish or vegetables, flowers, shoes, clothes, cookware, linen, pottery, carpets, arts and crafts and many other items. These fresh products are brought and sold by the villagers (peasants) themselves. so, fresh is fresh in Turkey! Please note that it may not be possible to use your own currency or your credit card on the bazaar..
