Turkey’s holiday home market in the next five years?
Turkey, is Europe’s 6st biggest economy and the second populous country (72,5 mil.) after Germany. Turkey is also Europe’s largest country with a territory of ca.780.000 km2 .
There is a serious need on affordable housing projects (yearly 450.000 new unites) for the local middle class of this young population.
In 2009, the Turkish property market will shrink a bit but from 2010 it will grow especially among the British buyers. I estimate that 50.000 properties will be acquired only by the British.
Some interesting areas such as the wine yards of Cappadocia in central Turkey and the Black Sea region will attract the attention of West European buyers.
South Western Turkey (Kuşadası – Fethiye) will attract not only the interest North European but also of Iranian and Arabic holiday home buyers over the coming 5 years.
Russian and Ukrainian buyers will keep concentrating on the Turkish Mediterranean. Turkey is being discovered by more and more Russian overseas home buyers. Antalya is now no longer just the tourist destination but also and ideal place for Russian relocation seekers.
